50/100 Period Education

“Menstruation should be a doorway to self-understanding and empathy.”

For many of us, our knowledge about menstruation, PMS, period pain, or menstrual products came not from formal education, but from whispered conversations among peers or passed down through female relatives. Too often, reliable information was out of reach, leaving us to navigate this perfectly natural part of life alone.

That’s why With Red launched the 50/100 Menstrual Education Initiative. We believe that while only 50% of people menstruate, 100% of people should understand it because someone whom we love or care about has, or will, experience menstruation.

Recognizing the long-standing challenges of menstrual education in Taiwan, we are committed to bringing 50/100 Menstrual Education into cities and counties across the island.

To date, With Red has reached more than 20 counties and cities in Taiwan, partnered with over 400 educational institutions, and directly engaged over 10,000 students.

Course Features

Original, multi-themed period education curriculum

With Red has developed interactive, experiential teaching materials that combine multiple menstrual-related topics into period education. In our classes, participants not only learn about the biology of menstruation and the changes of growing up, but also gain practical knowledge about different menstrual products. Through the lens of menstruation, they are further introduced to emotional, life, and gender education. They learn to express their feelings and needs while empathizing with the differences and difficulties of others.

Working hand in hand with teachers and school nurses through workshops and demo classes

We share our curriculum content and lesson plan designs, as well as the challenges and difficulties encountered while conducting period education on the front lines. We exchange and share with educators how to promote health education, gender education, and cross-disciplinary, gender-inclusive "period education" in the classroom through different educational programs.

Period Education Courses / Workshop Application (Taiwan only)

With Red’s education team designs lively, interactive courses with rich teaching materials to accompany educators and students of all genders in learning everything about menstruation!

We accept applications for the two types of courses / workshops below:

Empowerment Workshops for Educators

Eligibility: Schools or institutions that have not previously applied for With Red’s courses / workshops
Group Size: No limit
Duration: 1.5–3 hours
Participants: Educators both within and outside the formal school system (topics can be discussed and adjusted with With Red in advance)
Fees: Lecturer NT$2,000/hr; Assistant lecturer NT$1,000/hr
Transportation fees: For areas outside Taipei/New Taipei, round-trip transportation costs are reimbursed based on actual expenses
Additional Notes: For schools in remote, non-mountain, or non-city areas, the lecturer fees may be waived due to support from With Red’s donors.
Requirements for Application:
(1) Commitment to independently conduct menstruation-related teaching or school activities in the future (Photos of the class / activities must be submitted before the end of the next semester)
(2) Willingness to participate in follow-up evaluations by With Red (approximately every 6–12 months via surveys or phone calls)

Menstrual Education Campus Demonstration Course

Applicants: Schools or institutions that have not previously applied for With Red’s courses / workshops
Number of Participants: Up to 60 students
Duration: 2 to 3 class periods
Participants: Upper elementary (4-6th graders) to junior high school students, and teachers/nurses (as observers)
Fees: Lecturer NT$2,000/hr; Assistant lecturer NT$1,000/hr
Transportation fees: For areas outside Taipei/New Taipei, round-trip transportation costs are reimbursed based on actual expenses
Additional Notes: For schools in remote, rural areas, excluding mountain and urban areas, the lecturer fees may be waived due to support from With Red’s donors.

Free Period Education Kits for Elementary & Junior High Schools

With Red is currently offering schools across Taiwan the opportunity to apply for a free “Period Education Kit."

For the items included in the kit, please refer to this link.

(Applications are still being collected. We will contact schools in sequence to notify them of the results and the shipping schedule.)

We hope that these kits will help educators deliver period education more effectively, while allowing students to engage with hands-on materials to deepen their learning experience.

Borrow a Period Education Kit

We also offer a one-time borrowing option for schools that only need the kit for a single use, or for those still waiting for the result of their kit application, allowing them to use the materials immediately.

Guidelines

Cost: Free. For schools outside Taipei City and New Taipei City, only the return shipping fee is required. For Taipei City and New Taipei City, kits must be picked up and returned at the Menstruation Museum. If this is inconvenient, the school will be responsible for shipping costs.
Shipping Method: Only postal service is accepted.
Borrowing Period: Maximum of one month.
Responsibility: Borrowers must take good care of the kit. In case of loss, damage, or failure to return the kit within the specified period, the corresponding fees will be charged.

Borrowing Procedure

Fill out the “Period Education Kit Borrowing Form”. A staff member will contact you via email.

Next Steps:

With Red will prepare a borrowing agreement and send it to you.
Complete the agreement with your information and signature, then send it back to With Red.
Once confirmed, we will ship the kit to you as soon as possible.
After use, please return the kit promptly.
